Kerala Backroads: Spice Mountains To The Arabian Sea
Our Kerala Backroads Spice Mountains to the Arabian Sea takes in the just about the best there is in the mountains and on the backwaters and coast, steady distances but enough for a point to point cycling challenge with super scenery all the way.
Day 1: Pick Up Fort Cochin/Airport Transfer to Kumily around 4 hours drive. Afternoon relax evening optional boat ride inside Periyar Tiger Reserve: Overnight Kumily
Day 2: Kumily-Kuttikanam 45Km: Undulating ride through tea-estates and magical scenery onto our superb plantation resort in Kuttikanam.
Day 3: Kuttikanam-Vagamon 25Km: Relaxing morning at Misty Mountain Resort take in a guided tour of the tea factory and coffee and spice plantation. Afternoon super-scenic ride to Vagamon followed by light trek to stunning Tangalparra View point. Overnight Vagamon.
Day 4: Vagamon-Muttom 70Km: We traverse through the cardamom hills before descending through tea and pepper plantations to the Kerala lowlands with an overnight at our stunning resort on the banks of the Thodupuzzha river near Muttom
Day 5: Muttom-Nedumudy 90Km: A delight of ride taking us over some short climbs onto Palla and the famed India Coffee House before taking us back through rubber plantations and onto the palm fringed paddy fields of the Kuttinadu. Overnight on backwaters at Nedumudy
Day 6: Nedumudy-Marari Beach-Backwaters 30Km: A delightful short ride to one of Kerala’s hidden secrets; the near deserted tropical paradise beach of Marwari. Dive into the soothingly warm sea for a well deserved bathe followed by a short ride into Allapuzha for a cruise and overnight houseboat on Vembanad Lake
Day 7: Mararikulam-Fort Cochin 45KM: A superlative 45km gentle ride into historical Fort Cochin. Evening guided walk through the wealth of historical buildings and onto the iconic Chinese fishing set against a palm fringed backdrop of the Arabian Sea. Overnight Fort Cochin
Day 8: Onward travel/extend your trip/Airport drop.
