What if I need to change/cancel/transfer my booking?

If you wish to make any changes/cancel your booking, please let us know as soon as possible. This is required in writing and you should refer to the booking conditions with regards to any cancellation charges that may apply. Normally, if you cancel before the final balance is due, the deposit is non -refundable but we can usually hold your balance for you to use on a future trip. Once your final balance has been paid, there is a sliding scale of charges, outlined in the booking conditions.

If you wish to transfer your booking to a different holiday or traveller, you should contact us before the final balance is due for your existing holiday,  Any changes are also subject to any additional fees charged by local suppliers or airlines.

How can I pay my balance?

The balance of your payment is due 6 weeks  before departure. Your invoice shows the date your final balance is due and, if you have booked directly with Mountain Bike Kerala and we have an email address for you, a reminder will be sent out 1 to 2 weeks before this date. To pay, you can use any of the following methods, quoting your booking reference in all cases:

A receipt of payment will be emailed out to the lead booker as soon as we can confirm payment being received. If you have not received a receipt and would like one,. If payment is not made on time you may lose your place on the trip, although we will always do our best to contact you before we cancel your booking.

What about  confirmation and invoice?

Once you have paid the deposit for your holiday, we will email you your booking confirmation and invoice. Please check the information carefully to make sure that we have booked the arrangements you requested. If there are any inaccuracies, please contact us so that we can make the necessary corrections.

Who looks after me now?

Once you have paid your deposit and booked on the trip we will assist you in any way possible, with over 20 years experience behind us, there isn’t much we  won’t be able to answer for you. We will contact you 6 weeks before travel around the same time the final balance is due and update you with the latest copy of the trip notes and if there are any last minute arrangements you need to make or questions you might have, just let us know and we will be happy to look into it for you.

When will I meet the tour leader? 

Your leader normally meets the group at the destination airport. There may be people on other flights, or joining at the hotel.

Visa requirements

If you are visiting India for a longer duration then a 6 month tourist visa could be worth considering but they are more expensive.

Travel Insurance

Get insured. It is a condition of our trips that you are adequately insured. Policies must cover cycling. If your usual insurance doesn’t cover Mountain Biking or Cycle Touring then consider specialist coverage. We need a copy of your insurance ready for us on arrival or you can send us on a copy via e-mail prior to the trip.

Travel health and vaccinations required?

Get in touch with your GP well in advance of your departure for latest information on vaccinations and any other medical considerations.  There are no mandatory vaccination requirements whilst current recommended vaccinations are: Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Typhoid, Hepatitis A. For riding above 3000m there is a risk of being affected by Acute Mountain Sickness. Our itineraries are designed to enable everyone to acclimatise to these altitudes, but you should be aware that it is still possible for you to be affected..

Travel money and currency what should I bring?

ATM’s are easily accessible in India with Visa is the most widely accepted. Food items, snacks, gift items are all well priced so expect to pay £5 for an evening meal or just over  £2 for an alcoholic drink.

Airport exchange rates are usually very poor so if you are exchanging money here then just change small amounts. You can change larger amounts of cash at good rates on the arrival day on all our trips.
