A short word from Mike McLean owner and guide at Mountain Bike Kerala.
January has arrived and things are looking a little brighter for travel around the world from Spring time 2021. In India a sense of normality has retuned and we are looking forward to getting back on the bikes with you as our guests as soon as it’s safe and possible to do so. Based on travel advice in your country, regular updates which we receive from the Government of India and of course what life looks like here on the ground in the regions that we cycle, we are now gearing up to start our 2021 season so look out for regular updates here and on our Facebook page.
If you are residing in India or a resident of India then our local partners here have already started day tours and shorter multi-day trips so feel free to contact us and I will pass your details on to them directly.
We have set out below the present status regarding travel and tried to answer your most important questions but please message/ring or e-mail us if you need any further info on anything.
In the meantime our shop is open for the perfect upcycled gift solution. So beautiful hand made gifts, gift wraps and cards all made from upcycled materials sourced from our bike tours and for our local area..
Thanks for you support and hope see you on the trails soon.

7th January 2021
For trips departing on or after March 1st 2021 the following applies:
If the UK FCO, global or local health authorities advise against travel or impose severe restrictions on movement within a country, we will amend, cancel or suspend trips as required offering 100% flexibility to transfer your travel plans to an alternative date or different tour free of charge.
We adhere to UK FCO advice, and we will not operate tours to areas where the advice is against all non-essential travel.
Decisions about whether we can operate upcoming tours are updated on a rolling basis based on current advice. Where the advice for a country is temporarily against all non-essential travel, we will not normally make changes to tours more than 6 weeks before the date of travel.
When is your next tour?
All the scheduled dates that you see on the website are confirmed to go at this point in time. We will have an update early Feb 2021 regarding all scheduled 2021 tours and all other tours scheduled past that point. We remain committed to social-distancing and all travel and non-travel advisories that are prevalent in India and in the rest of the world and as such all our guiding services and tours are on hold till we get the green light.
I want to book on 2021 April Kerala Singletrack Tour can I be sure it will run?
We will block your spot on a 1st come 1st served basis. Please check on your own countries travel advisories, we are regularly taking updates from the Indian government if it’s safe to travel and when we are 100% confident that we can run the trip without compromising safety and the integrity of the tour then we will ask you for a deposit. We will update you regularly about upcoming travel advisories and we have the most flexible bookings in the industry as so that’s fully transferable deposit for from booking and no change fees to move to another holiday.
Why should we book with you in the future?
We understand any concerns that you as our guests or future guests may have about any upcoming travel plans and future holidays with us at Mountain Bike Kerala. As ever our priority is always the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. We are, as you are probably well aware, a small specialist operator who ride bikes because we love to ride and run tours to India as it’s the country we live in and love, a place that inspires us on and off the bike with the trails, the spectacular landscapes, the food and most of all the people that we meet along the way who are overwhelmingly friendly, curious and make every encounter an unforgettable one..
We are entirely reliant upon you as our guests to keep the locally owned hotels, the tea shops, the local eateries and of course Mountain Bike Kerala going and we are acutely aware that without you and all our other riding friends, support and encouragement these last 16 years we would not be here. The situation is is fluid but as a well-established company we have robust plans in place. I do hope you will continue to travel with us, either now or in the very near future.
Need a chat or a bit more info?
You can contact us about anything even if it’s just a general chat about travel in India or anything else 🙂
We hope to be on the trails with you all soon.
